The weather is miserable but that it isn't stopping us from dreaming of summer time adventures!
Join me on this stabby ride that hits a bunch of great hills around Magnolia and Discovery Park via a Kerry Park detour. The route overlaps in places and is centered around Discovery Park allowing folks to take it at their own pace and not get too spread out to worry about getting dropped. Ride until you feel like you got a good workout in or complete the whole route and then head to Peddler/Mean Sandwich for post ride recovery food and beverage.
The idea here is unstructured intervals up all these hills - officially known as Fartlek Intervals. Sound complicated? It isn't! You simply ride up the hill as fast as you can and then back it off and ride to the next hill at a deliberate pace where you can recover a bit so that you can...ride up the next hill as fast as you can! Going over your threshold and then recovering while riding but slightly below threshold over and over again is a super efficient way to build up your aerobic capacity! Or so says science!
The vibe is non-competitive, super supportive and not that fast. This ain't a waif's on madone's crowd. I will be riding a steel bike with flat pedals and albatross bars. Meet at La Marzocco at Seattle Center for a pre-ride coffee and conclude at Mean Sandwich/Peddler.
