Join Moxie Monday for a weekly social ride! This ride is for folks who are femme, trans, non-binary, gender non-conforming, and/or women.
Route and destination vary each week, and will be discussed at the start of the meet up each week at 6:30p.
Route varies in length. It's always less than 20 miles and will be as few as 5 miles other weeks if it's rainy or that what folks are feeling. Routes range from flat to rolling hills. The group is flexible and will happily do a more flat route, or a route mostly on bike paths if that's what folks are wanting.
Snow/ice cancels. We still ride in the rain - it is usually a small group of people if its raining.

Hi there, I’m really interested in joining but am curious about the destination. It’s difficult to assess if I’m able to join given the wide variance of miles and no idea where it ends, which could mean a long ride home after dark.
Any insight would be helpful. Thank you!
I'm new to the group but those don't really plan ahead of the ride. We discuss what people are intestate in. The last couple of rides I've been on that meant riding north through the Ballard locks. I've also been with them to gas works. That said I see a trend to go north but we also went down to the shipping area once as well. That was back in the fall. It's really about letting your needs be known when planning the ride the night of I think. But I'm still new here.
Thanks for sharing Reigh
Hi Erin thanks for your question! We decide the destination as a group at the beginning of the ride. Destinations and routes are determined with group consensus. So mileage can vary but folks are always flexible about if someone is wanting to do a shorter route or ride a certain direction. If one week everyone who goes lives north of Lake Union, then the ride will probably go that way. I know it can be hard to not know the destination when deciding to attend a ride. Folks are flexible with this ride, which I find helps. You can totally show up and say you prefer to ride 5 miles, or you want to go x park but aren't sure the best route and we will come up with a route together.
I do want to acknowledge not knowing the destination can be a barrier to going. I've heard this from other folks about other social rides as well. Perhaps Moxie can occasionally announce destinations or something. I'll chat with some of the other regulars about this!
Although if you announce a ride and someone shows up who has not heard. They might have wanted to have input on the ride that night. I can see it going both ways.
Thanks Ginny! I haven’t been riding as much and don’t love riding after dark if I don’t have to. I appreciate the intention behind a group destination decision and the possibility of switching it up now and then. Loops also help with this :-) I’ll think about it for tomorrow. I love the focus of the group 🙌🏼
I hope we are surprised with drier weather like we were today for the ride tomorrow.
Yeah I agree Reigh that there are upsides to deciding at the time of the ride. I'm thinking maybe some sort of combo where we post a route in advance the first day Monday of the month and the other Mondays decide at the ride.
I'm here early for the ride this week sitting at the hot dog stand benches.
I'm not on the discord but if someone is and can pass on to Jen this is the way to tune up or have a mechanic tune up her shifting problem. Understanding a front derailer https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=yDjlRu4CnjI How to adjust and set one up https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ZNG7g83lI-s It's best done from a bike stand looking top down to sight in the landmarks not upside down on it's handle bars. I have all the tools just not enough expirience to work on this from memory. Hope it helps.
Thanks for doing that I know Jen was using the discord Monday. I'll consider joining but I have so many to manage already if I join I'd probably just end up putting it on silent. Thanks for the link.
Btw Erin a few regular attendees talked about trying to post a weekly route from now on. Next Monday 6/20 we will go to West Seattle. Someone will update the event on Everyday Rides a few days in advance with the route.
Thanks so much for following up Ginny. That’s very thoughtful of you. I’ll keep my eyes open for when my schedule might permit to join you 🙌🏼
