Past is prologue.
On March 30, 1942, 227 Japanese-Americans were forcibly removed from their homes on Bainbridge Island to internment camps. It is one of our greatest shames as a society- which we are actively repeating today.
I'll be aiming to catch a 3PM ferry to Bainbridge and doing a short ride to the memorial to light candles and place flowers.
Informal ride that I'll otherwise do solo.
The Memorial is pretty small, but bikes are not allowed. I've typically just stashed my bike by the ranger station, but bring a lock just in case. If time allows, we can also hit up a labyrinth just to the south for additional reflection.
