From behind their handlebars, audiences will be invited to experience Heap’s “absurdist” (Seattle Times) form of dance storytelling. A zany narrative will be revealed chapter by chapter at frequent performance pit-stops at various bike shops throughout the city encouraging audience riders to continue pedaling to each destination. The ride welcomes new cyclists, using art as an avenue of accessibility to help introduce riders to their local bike shops, and show them safe and fun routes around town.
With each performance featuring a different bike route, audiences can opt for a ride through their neighborhood or discover a new locale. Audiences are invited to participate for portions of the event as they are able. RSVP to join the group ride, starting at the beginning of the ride and leaving at any time as needed.
Choreography for this project by Kara Beadle is funded by the City of Seattle Office of Arts & Culture. This project is fiscally sponsored by Velocity Dance Center.
